My hair has gone through it but I'm still on the journey

Hey everyone 👋🏾 I wanted to introduce myself and my hair.

💁🏾‍♀️ I started my locs in the spring of 2005 right before studying abroad in Japan. Then, in 2022, I started experiencing alopecia. After my hair started growing back on it's own, I made the difficult decision to cut off my locs in the spring of 2023.

🌱 Since then, I've been slowly growing my hair back out. I don't know if I'll do locs again, but I'm doing my best to be grateful for the hair I have and to take care of it the best I can. Hoping to get inspired and informed by y'all in this group. 🙏🏾

Loving your natural hair. I would say keep doing the low maintenance natural styles. Your hair looks great! You look like you were very successful in growing it back. I also had locs and the tightening process sometimes puts strain on the roots, also as they get longer the weight puts strain on the roots as well. That was my experience anyways. I would often style it up or wrap it with a head wrap to help with the weight. I had a stylist that also knew how to style and tighten without putting stress on the roots.
